The Center for Indigenous People, Health and Nursing of North America at the School of Nursing hosted a four-part webinar series in honor of Native American Heritage Month in November.
Minnesota Indian Affairs Council Legislative Director Brandon Alkire, JD, presented An Introduction to Native American Political Status.
Missing Murdered Indigenous Relatives Office Community Planner Ana Negrete presented Understanding Missing and Murdered Indigenous Relatives in Minnesota.
Doctor of Nursing Practice student Christain Kotoucek, BSN, RN, presented Dementia Prevalence and Screening in Native Americans.
Doctor of Nursing Practice students Haley Warren, BSN, RN, and Marla Jim, MPH, RN, WCC, presented Navigating Higher Education as a First Generation American Indian Nursing Student.
The purpose of the center, which is led by Clinical Associate Professor Misty Wilkie, PhD, RN, FAAN, is to establish a vehicle for change by occupying spaces and incorporating the Seven Grandfather Teachings: humility, bravery, honesty, wisdom, truth, respect and love in all work.
