The Katharine J. Densford Center for International Nursing Leadership at the University of Minnesota School of Nursing will host a parallel event during the United Nations Commission on the Status of Women (CSW69) Forum about The Future of Caring: How AI is Transforming Nursing.

The panel, on March 14 at 9:30 a.m., will discuss how the utilization of artificial intelligence (AI) is shaping the future of nursing and transforming patient care. The session will explore how AI can support nurse decision-making, streamline workflows, and improve health outcomes while maintaining human connection in nursing and caregiving. The webinar will address common misconceptions, ethical concerns and highlight new opportunities to enhance health care quality.

Moderators Martin Michalowski, PhD, FAMIA, FIAHSI, associate professor, University of Minnesota School of Nursing and Jenna Marquard, PhD, FACMI, professor, University of Minnesota School of Nursing, will facilitate the discussion with speakers:

  • Laura-Maria Peltonen, PhD, RN, docent and senior research fellow, Department of Nursing Science, University of Turku; associate professor, University of Eastern Finland

The UN Commission on the Status of Women is the principal intergovernmental body exclusively dedicated to the promotion of gender equality and the empowerment of women.

The Densford Center has associate member status in the Conference of Non-Governmental Organizations in Consultative Relationship with the United Nations (CoNGO). This membership brings the School of Nursing to the table to engage in policy and action at the international level. Parallel events, organized outside the formal program of the session of the commission, provide an opportunity for member states, UN entities and NGOs to discuss themes of the commission.

Registration is required for The Future of Caring: How AI is Transforming Nursing webinar.
