DNP No. 8, Nurse-Midwifery No. 4 in latest U.S. News rankings

The University of Minnesota is No. 8 in the 2026 Best Nursing Schools: Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) rankings conducted by U.S. News & World Report. Johns Hopkins University topped this year’s list of DNP programs, followed by Emory University and Rush University. Duke University, University of California – San Francisco, the University of Michigan, and University of Washington tied for fourth, one point ahead of the University of Minnesota.
In U.S. News’ ranking of Nursing-Midwifery programs, the University of Minnesota DNP specialty placed No. 4.
The University of Minnesota was also ranked among the Best DNP Gerontology, Primary Care Programs (tied for No. 9) and the Best DNP Gerontology, Acute Care Programs (tied for No. 11).
U.S. News & World Report evaluated nearly 200 accredited nursing schools for the 2026 Best Nursing Schools rankings. The publication factored faculty resources, quality assessment, research activity, program size and student selectivity in its methodology.
