McMahon named Gerontological Society of America fellow

Professor Siobhan McMahon, PhD, MPH, GNP-BC, FGSA, School of Nursing Foundation Research Professor, was named a fellow of the Gerontological Society of America (GSA).
Fellow status is one of the highest honors in the field of aging research and education. It is awarded in acknowledgment of outstanding and continuing work in the field of gerontology. GSA is the world’s oldest and largest interdisciplinary organization devoted to research, education, and practice in the field of aging.
McMahon serves as director of the Center on Aging Science and Care and associate director of the Clinical Science and Practice Core of the Center for Healthy Aging and Innovation. Her research interests focus on promoting health and wellness across diverse older adult populations with fall risk. She leads and participates in interdisciplinary research to develop and test behavior change strategies within community-based, fall-reducing physical activity interventions. Her long-term goal is to help people stay motivated and integrate fall-reducing physical activity into their everyday lives.
New fellows will be honored at the 2026 Annual Scientific Meeting held in Maryland in November.
