April 14, 2026
The School of Nursing finalized a new 2035 strategic plan that will guide the school, with the 10-year vision: We are the community of innovation in nursing — creating meaningful impact.
The strategic plan’s four pillars and 10-year impact for each include:
• Advance our inclusive community
– An exemplar of inclusive academic excellence and belonging — where authentic diversity, holistic wellbeing, and mutual respect to empower innovation and impact
• Lead in creating and integrating technology
– Seamless integration of technological tools across research and education to elevate practice and the tri-mission
• Ensure purposeful partnerships
– A collaborative network transforming work and policies that address disparities and spread equitable solutions
• Cultivate evidence-informed learning and practice
– A leader in translating nursing knowledge into societal impact
The school’s 2035 Strategic Plan reflects the priorities outlined in the University’s new strategic plan, Elevate Extraordinary 2030.
All faculty and staff had opportunities to provide feedback and insights throughout the two-year process. Thirty faculty and staff provided regular feedback and recommendations as members of the strategic planning task force, while a core group of Administrative Director Kelaine Haas, PhD, Assistant Professor Christie Martin, PhD, MPH, RN-BC, Associate Professor Anne McKechnie, PhD, RN, and Student and Career Advancement Director Kathryn Schwartz reviewed and discussed feedback and recommendations. Adrienne Jordan from the Prouty Project provided strategic planning guidance.
