Assistant Professor Mary Whipple, PhD, RN, PHN, FSVM, FAHA, was named the 2026-2027 Fesler-Lampert Chair in Aging Studies by the University of Minnesota’s Center for Healthy Aging and Innovation.
The Fesler-Lampert Chair in Aging Studies is a one-year appointment awarded to a faculty member to support research in aging that enhances and develops their own career in addition to the University’s scholarly capacity in aging science.
Whipple’s research uses wearable technology and vascular imaging to study how reducing physical inactivity impacts cardiometabolic health and biological aging.
During her term as chair, Whipple will pilot SitWISE for Diabetes, an intervention blending community input with continuous glucose monitoring and accelerometry to lower cardiovascular risk in older adults.
