Biography
Biographical Summary
Dr. Sommerness earned a Doctor of Nursing Practice degree from the University of Minnesota, a master’s degree in nursing from University of Pennsylvania and a bachelor’s degree in nursing from the University of Portland. Dr. Sommerness served as an Army nurse from 1993 to 1998 and as an advanced practice perinatal leader at Fairview Southdale Hospital. She is on the editorial board of the Journal of Perinatal and Neonatal Nursing. Dr. Sommerness has played a pivotal role in many students’ lives. She makes strong contributions to the future of nursing by helping and mentoring nursing students so they can develop in a positive learning environment.
