Biographical Summary

Dr. Kimberly Beckstrom, DNP, APRN, FNP-BC serves as a clinical associate professor in the Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) specialty in the Doctor of Nursing Practice Program at the University of Minnesota School of Nursing. She also maintains an active clinical practice in Family Medicine. With more than 25 years of diverse clinical experience spanning primary and acute care, Dr. Beckstrom brings real-world expertise to her academic role. She is passionate about developing the next generation of nurse practitioner leaders through innovation, mentorship, and excellence in education. She is deeply committed to the development of innovative educational models, initiatives to expand clinical education capacity, and strengthen competency-based education for nurse practitioner students. Dr. Beckstrom's scholarly interests include simulation, diagnostic reasoning, empathic communication, pediatric and adolescent health, menopause, and leadership development.  As an active contributor to the profession through scholarship, presentations, and service, she is committed to advancing nurse practitioner practice and preparing leaders equipped to meet the evolving needs of patients, healthcare systems, and the profession. She values collaboration, integrity, and service, and is dedicated to strengthening the future of nurse practitioner leadership.
