Purpose
The CVD Study app is a research effort that aims to assist individuals in optimizing their cardiovascular health through a medication reminder feature, as well as providing educational content to support users in making positive changes in daily lifestyle habits that are known to reduce cardiovascular disease risk (e.g., educational content on strategies to increase physical activity, decrease sedentary time, consume a heart-healthy diet, and reduce stress). By using the app and agreeing to this privacy policy, you are also agreeing to take part in this research effort.
Personal Information
Your privacy is important to us. An account will be created for you by the CVD Study app team using your email address. Your account will provide you access to the CVD Study app for the purpose of the research you have consented to. The app may retain your personal information including name, medications, daily step count, and cardio fitness (i.e., VO2 max). The personal information in the app is then used by the CVD Study app team for the research at the University of Minnesota School of Nursing that you have consented to participate in. Your personal information will be available only to you and the research team.
Our data gathering and dissemination are governed by state and federal laws, including the Minnesota Government Data Practices Act, Minnesota Statutes, Chapter 13. Personally identifiable information is not released to external parties without your consent unless required by law.
Accuracy and Integrity of Information
Although the app and the CVD App Study team attempt to ensure the integrity and accuracy of your submitted information, it makes no guarantee as to the correctness or accuracy of the information. It is possible that the Site could include typographical errors, inaccuracies, or other errors. Information on the app may be changed or updated without notice. Additionally, the app shall have no responsibility or liability for information or content found on the app.
General Warranty Disclaimer
The University of Minnesota does not warrant that access to or use of the app will be uninterrupted or error-free or that defects in the app will be corrected. The app, including any content or information contained within it is provided “as is,” with all faults, with no representations or warranties of any kind, either expressed or implied, including, but not limited to, the implied warranties of quality of information. You assume total responsibility and risk for your use of the app.
Discontinuing Use of the app
To discontinue your use of the app and to have your account removed, contact [email protected] requesting to be removed from the study.
Security of Your Information
You will be accessing your health care data on your personal device. It is your responsibility to protect the security of your device used to access the app.
Changes to this Privacy Agreement
The University of Minnesota reserves the right, in its sole discretion, at any time, to modify, alter, or update the terms and conditions of this agreement with or without notice. Modifications shall become effective immediately upon being posted. Your continued use of the app constitutes your acknowledgement and acceptance of the modifications.
