April 13, 2026

Robin Austin

Associate Professor Robin Austin, PhD, DNP, DC, RN, NI-BC, FAMIA, FAAN, was named a Fulbright Specialist by the U.S. Department of State Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs.

The program pairs highly qualified U.S. academics and professionals with host institutions abroad to share their expertise, strengthen institutional linkages, hone their skills, gain international experience, and learn about other cultures while building capacity at their overseas host institution.

Austin will collaborate with colleagues in Brazil, including Luciana Schleder Gonçalves, PhD, with the Federal University of Paraná, to advance global nursing informatics by assessing the implementation of the Omaha System and the MyStrengths+MyHealth application within a Brazilian health care system. This partnership supports international efforts to strengthen digital health data systems that capture whole-person health and improve patient-centered care.

As a nurse informaticist, educator and researcher, Austin advances whole-person health through the integration of nursing knowledge, standardized data science and patient-centered informatics solutions.

Her Fulbright Specialist appointment reflects an ongoing commitment to global collaboration and to strengthening digital health data ecosystems that capture the full scope of human health experiences—not only diseases, but also strengths, needs and lived experience.
