The Katharine J. Densford International Center for Nursing Leadership is hosting a Celebration of the Nursing Code of Ethics, with a discussion of the newly updated Code of Ethics and how it shapes nursing today. Shika Kalevor, MBE, BSN, RN, a NICU nurse turned bioethics leader, is the keynote speaker. She explores the intersection of ethics, health equity, and racial bias in medicine. Her published work draws from her roles on ethics committees and her pediatric bioethics fellowship at Children’s Mercy Kansas City.

Authors of the updated Code of Ethics and Kalevor will discuss how ethics influence everyday actions. They will share real-world examples of applying the 2025 Code of Ethics updates to social media and combating misinformation, gender-affirming care, ethical use of artificial intelligence, and Planetary Health.

The event will be Oct. 30 at 4:30-6:30 p.m. in 4-130 Weaver-Densford Hall. A virtual option is available. Register for the event at z.umn.edu/ethicscode.
