Nurse anesthesia program earns IFNA accreditation

The University of Minnesota Nurse Anesthesia specialty in the Doctor of Nursing Practice program received accreditation from the International Federation of Nurse Anesthetists (IFNA). Accreditation by IFNA positions the school and the nurse anesthesia specialty to serve as a leader in nurse anesthesia education globally.

Through its accreditation status, the specialty will support the functions of IFNA and its objective to develop and promote educational standards in the field of nurse anesthesia.

The accreditation was announced at the 15th World Congress of Nurse Anaesthetists (WCNA) 2026, hosted by IFNA, in Brisbane, Australia, in May. I

Joanne Donnelly, DNP, APRN, CRNA, FAANA, specialty coordinator of the Nurse Anesthesia Doctor in Nursing Practice program, attended WCNA with four nurse anesthesia students, Elizabeth Hill, Everett Kohner, Madison Skarda and Ellie Stickney.
