School of Nursing receives HEED Award for 10th consecutive year
October 30, 2025
The University of Minnesota School of Nursing received the 2025 Health Professions Higher Education Excellence and Distinction (HEED) Award from Insight Into Academia magazine. The award recognizes U.S. health colleges and universities that demonstrate an outstanding commitment to academic excellence, belonging, and community-building across all levels of campus life. This marks the 10th consecutive year the school has been honored.
“This recognition reflects the School of Nursing’s enduring commitment to fostering inclusive excellence across our teaching, research and practice,” says Margaret Moss, PhD, JD, RN, FAAN, FADLN, associate dean for Nursing and Health Policy, Advocacy, Access and Ethics. “We are deeply proud of this milestone, which affirms our values and the work of our faculty, staff, and students in advancing health and equity in Minnesota and beyond.”
The University of Minnesota was one of nine schools of nursing to be recognized. The University of Minnesota College of Pharmacy was also among the 28 health colleges and universities cited by the publication.
“We take a detailed and somewhat holistic approach to reviewing each application in determining who will be named a Health Professions HEED Award recipient. Our standards are high, and we look for institutions where academic excellence and belonging are woven into the work being done every day across their campus,” says Lenore Pearlstein, co-publisher of Insight Into Academia.
