School of Nursing receives 11th consecutive HEED Award

The University of Minnesota School of Nursing received the 2026 Health Professions Higher Education Excellence and Distinction (HEED) Award from Insight Into Academia magazine. 

The award recognizes U.S. and Canadian medical, dental, pharmacy, nursing, and health profession schools that demonstrate an outstanding commitment to academic excellence, belonging and community-building. This marks the 11th consecutive year the school has been honored.

“Beyond leadership and workforce initiatives, the school actively advances inclusive excellence through curriculum development, faculty and staff engagement, community partnerships, and policy leadership. These efforts are reinforced by the broader University of Minnesota commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging as central elements of institutional excellence and community success,” says Margaret P. Moss, PhD, JD, RN, FAAN, FADLN, associate dean for Policy, Access and Ethics

Insight Into Academia uses a detailed scoring process as well as a holistic approach to reviewing each application. “Our standards are high, and we look for institutions where academic excellence and belonging are woven into the work being done every day across their campus,” says Lenore Pearlstein, co-publisher of Insight Into Academia magazine.
