November 13, 2023
Allina Health and University of Minnesota School of Nursing announced the signing of a formal academic-practice partnership, or collaboratory, to generate, disseminate, and apply knowledge for the improvement of nursing practice, education, and patient outcomes.
The collaboratory will serve as an incubator for creativity and innovation. It aims to develop new strategies to enhance nursing education and professional development, research, practice, diversity, inclusion and equity, and recruit top talent into nursing.
“The signing of this agreement is a celebration of a relationship that has existed for many years,” says Dean Connie White Delaney, PhD, RN, FAAN, FACMI, FNAP. “With the creation of the collaboratory we now have the structure to elevate our partnership, specifically in the areas of clinical education and translating scholarship to practice.”
“We are grateful for the dedicated nurses who provide exceptional care for the communities Allina Health serves, and we celebrate this partnership with the University of Minnesota School of Nursing,” says Dominica Tallarico, executive vice president and chief operations officer at Allina Health. “We look forward to collaborating to find ways to retain a diverse workforce and support future generations of nurses.”
According to an American Association of Colleges of Nursing and American Organization for Nursing Leadership task force, academic-practice partnerships such as the collaboratory are “an important mechanism to strengthen nursing practice and help nurses become well positioned to lead change and advance health.”
