Biographical Summary

Dr. Diane Treat-Jacobson is a Professor and Associate Dean for Research at the University of Minnesota School of Nursing. She holds the Cora Meidl Siehl Chair in nursing research for improved care. She is committed to promoting awareness, timely identification and improved treatment for those suffering from peripheral artery disease (PAD). She has led several studies evaluating the impact of exercise training on physiologic and functional outcomes in patients with claudication and critical limb ischemia, including a NHLBI-funded R01, testing the efficacy of a creative new approach to PAD exercise rehabilitation. She also developed and validated the PAD Quality of Life (PADQOL) Questionnaire. Dr. Treat-Jacobson was Chair and lead author of the AHA Scientific Statement on optimal exercise programs for patients with peripheral artery disease and the Science Advisory on implementation of supervised exercise therapy for peripheral artery disease. Dr. Treat-Jacobson is a past President of the Society for Vascular Nursing and is a Master of the Society for Vascular Medicine. She previously served on the Leadership Committee of the Peripheral Vascular Disease Council of the AHA.
