Biography Summary
Dr. Monica Streater, DNP, APRN, CNM, serves as Clinical Assistant Professor and Director of the Pre-Licensure Program at the University of Minnesota School of Nursing. She holds a Doctor of Nursing Practice degree from the University of Minnesota and maintains certification as a Nurse Midwife. With over 10 years of clinical experience in maternal-child health, Dr. Streater currently practices midwifery at the Indian Health Board in Minneapolis, where she provides comprehensive care to diverse populations.
Dr. Streater is actively engaged in quality improvement initiatives focused on maternal care, with particular emphasis on enhancing prenatal and postpartum services for underserved local populations. She contributes to the academic mission through service on multiple School of Nursing committees and delivers instruction across the BSN, MN, and DNP programs. Her scholarly work centers on improving access to prenatal care for marginalized populations and exploring the role of midwifery in planetary health initiatives.
Dr. Streater demonstrates unwavering commitment to the patients she serves and is deeply passionate about expanding diversity within the nursing and midwifery workforce.
