15th in NIH funding among nursing schools in the nation, with nearly $5.5M in NIH funding in 2021, University of Minnesota School of Nursing faculty lead innovative research and evidence-based practice projects with students, interdisciplinary colleagues, community partners and clinical affairs.
We address health issues such as Alzheimer’s, childhood obesity, diabetes, peripheral artery disease, opioid addiction and refugee trauma in local, state and global contexts.

News

U.S. News & World Report placed the University of Minnesota No. 7 in its 2023 Best Nursing Schools ranking of Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) programs. The School of Nursing was tied for seventh with the University of Michigan, University of Pittsburgh and Vanderbilt University.

Doctor of Nursing Practice student Tumani Jackson, BSN, RN, was accepted as a 2023 Health Equity Scholar at the Center for Health Equity Education and Advocacy (CHEEA) at Harvard Medical School.

Clinical Associate Professor Misty Wilkie, PhD, RN, FAAN, (Turtle Mountain Band of Chippewa/Métis) was elected to the Minnesota Organization of Registered Nurses (MNORN) board of directors. Her two-year term began Jan. 1.

The University of Minnesota School of Nursing and Shukutoku University School of Nursing and Nutrition in Japan signed a five-year agreement for cooperation and exchange to promote the wellbeing of the people of both countries.
