The vision of the Earl E. Bakken Center for Spirituality & Healing is to advance the health and wellbeing of individuals, organizations, and communities through integrative health and healing in partnership with the center, the School of Nursing provides educational opportunities such as the integrative health and healing DNP specialty degree and post-baccalaureate certificate.

Research Opportunities
Ranked 14th in schools of nursing receiving National Institutes of Health research funding, at $5.3 MILLION in February 2023, University of Minnesota School of Nursing faculty lead innovative research and evidence-based practice projects with students, interdisciplinary colleagues, community partners and clinical affairs.
We address health issues such as Alzheimer’s, childhood obesity, diabetes, peripheral artery disease, opioid addiction and refugee trauma in local, state and global contexts.

For the eighth consecutive year, the University of Minnesota School of Nursing received the Health Professions Higher Education Excellence in Diversity (HEED) Award from INSIGHT Into Diversity Magazine.
The Center for Nursing Equity and Excellence (CNEE), which was launched through a partnership between the University of Minnesota and Minnesota State, was awarded a $740,000 grant from the Department of Employment and Economic Development's (DEED) to launch a Pre-Licensure Nursing Apprenticeship pilot program.
Associate Professor Rozina Bhimani, PhD, DNP, APRN, FNP-BC, CNE, CRRN, Long Term Care Professor in Nursing, received the Outstanding Contributions to Graduate and Professional Education Award and was inducted into the Academy of Distinguished Teachers.
Clinical Professor Sherry Chesak, PhD, RN, and Clinical Associate Professor Dorcas Kunkel, DNP, RN, PHN, CNE, CPHIMS, were inducted into the National Academies of Practice (NAP).
