
Global Health Experience in Ireland
For current upper-level BSN and Master of Nursing students

This 2-credit global experience course, Nursing 5812, will provide an opportunity for students to develop a more informed understanding of nursing as a global profession. Students will explore the history of Irish nursing and health care and learn how Irish nurses are leading the way in transforming their health care system. Learning will be facilitated by faculty from the University of Minnesota School of Nursing and several nursing programs & health care facilities in the Republic of Ireland. Observational experiences in clinical and community health settings will be included in this course. This experience includes 11 days in Ireland and a 3 hour on-campus orientation. Â

Global Health Experience in Cuba
March 4-12, 2023
For current Master of Nursing, DNP, or Ph.D. students
Students will observe all three levels of the highly effective Cuban health care system including neighborhood primary care clinics, local multi-specialty clinics, and acute care hospitals.

Global Health Experience in Guatemala
January 7-14, 2023
For current DNP students
Students will gain an understanding of the socio-cultural factors affecting the health and well-being of Guatemalans through collaborative activities with local communities in urban and rural village locations in and around the historic city of Antigua.

Global Health and Management in Iceland
May 11-18, 2024
For current DNP or PhD students
This course will focus on international nursing leadership and employee management grounded in population health. Students will observe different models of health care delivery in Reykjavik and explore the impact of a single payer system.Â
