International students need to consider the following BEFORE applying to the BSN program:
In order to maintain F-1 visa status, international students must be enrolled in a minimum of 12 credits, 9 of which must be in face-to-face courses (non-online). The BSN program does include several online courses, which can impact international students. Therefore, some international students who are transferring in credit may find they will need to repeat certain courses in order to maintain their credit load each semester.
Please note that the number of non-online elective options at our Rochester location are extremely limited, and therefore cannot be relied upon for a student who needs to increase their non-online credit load.
Completing a Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree is NOT a guaranteed route toward employment in the United States. The process for applying for an H-1B visa is highly competitive, and involves being selected in a lottery. Unfortunately it is rare to find employers at hospitals or clinics willing to sponsor an international Registered Nurse applicant. We encourage all international students who apply to the BSN program to be open to returning to their home countries or relocating in other countries upon completion of their degree.
