Goering and Talley named Distinguished Educators in Gerontological Nursing

October 3, 2018

Associate Professor Kristine Talley, PhD, RN, GNP-BC, and Clinical Assistant Professor Mary DeGrote Goering, PhD, RN-BC have been selected as a Distinguished Educator in Gerontological Nursing by the National Hartford Center of Gerontological Nursing Excellence.

Talley and Goering are part of the inaugural group of nurse educators selected to the program that aims to recognize the leadership of nurse educators working with students, faculty, providers and older people in diverse settings.

Talley’s research focuses on identifying risk factors, prevention strategies and treatments for late-life disability related to geriatric syndromes in frail older people and she teaches both graduate and undergraduate courses on the nursing care of older adults. She was recently named director of the school’s Center for Aging Science & Care.

Goering’s research focuses upon pre-licensure nursing students perceptions of their knowledge and clinical skill abilities. She teaches undergraduate courses on the nursing care of adults and older adults.

Talley and Goering will receive their awards at the NHCGNE Leadership Conference in November.
