Our center was established to lead gerontological nursing research, education, and practice by generating new knowledge, disseminating findings, and translating research into practice which serves local and global needs to improve the health of older individuals, their families, and communities.

Our areas of excellence
Heath promotion and management of common acute and chronic conditions and symptoms experienced by aging adults, (i.e., peripheral artery disease, stroke, cardiovascular disease, dementia), physical activity as therapy, prevention and management of geriatric syndromes (i.e., falls, frailty, cognitive impairment, urinary incontinence), cognitive training, care-giving, improving quality and safety in long term care, and aging care models.
Overarching Strategic Goal
Establish a scientific hub within the University for community-based and clinical research on the health and care of aging adults and their caregivers
- Goal 1: Convene nursing, interprofessional faculty, and community partners to advance research, education, and practice related to the clinical care of aging adults and their caregivers
- Goal 2: Lead community-based and clinical research that will benefit the health, independence, and well-being of diverse aging adults and their caregivers
- Goal 3: Mentor the current and future workforce of nursing and interprofessional scientists, educators, and practitioners pursuing careers in clinical aging
