The PHIT certificate will
- Prepare learners to tap into the power of data for improving public and population health.
- Provide opportunities to learn about tools for consumer engagement in health, data visualization, information systems for public and population health, electronic data exchange methods and health information technology implementation.
- Facilitate the utilization of data for health equity.
Eligibility and advantages
- Open to both health and non-health majors.
- Inter-professional program with appeal across health-related disciplines.
- Fulfills elective needs for public health, health informatics and other degree programs.
- Can be completed as a stand-alone certificate program.
- Use the credits towards a higher degree (e.g., DNP in Nursing Informatics)
Unique opportunity
- The program supports practicum placements in a variety of settings and facilitated through a national network of connections for career growth.
- Through summer of 2025, the practicums will be supported by stipends funded in part by a grant from the Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology.
Requirements / Credits
The certificate requires the completion of 12 credits of graduate course work. Students may be able to petition out of 40 percent of credits, based on courses taken elsewhere and/or request credit for relevant work experience.
