Tony Diggs awardees

The Minnesota Nursing Student Board (MNSB) received the Tony Diggs Excellence Award for Outstanding Collaboration for its work on Wellness Week.

The MNSB collaborated with six student boards to organize the first Wellness Week in November 2018, highlighting many of the University resources that encourage mental, physical and nutritional wellness and each of the boards hosted activities. The MNSB hosted a Nutrition Day where it provided information about nutrition and made protein bites for students.

“The Minnesota Nursing Student Board is truly an amazing group of young leaders,” said Associate Professor Susan O’Conner-Von, PhD, RN, who is the MNSB faculty adviser. “I am so impressed with their enthusiasm and desire to make a positive difference in the world.”

In addition, the People’s Choice Award for Graduate Students went to the Phillips Neighborhood Clinic, which is a free clinic operated by University of Minnesota health professional students, including nursing students.

The MNSB received the award along with College of Liberal Arts Student Board, College of Education and Human Development Undergraduate Student Board, College of Biological Sciences Student Board, Carlson School of Management Business Board, Science and Engineering Student Board, and the Minnesota Student Association.

In honor of Tony Diggs, former director of the Student Activities Office, the Tony Diggs Excellence Awards are intended to recognize annual student group achievements.
