Alumni awards 2024

The School of Nursing Alumni Society Board named the 2024 recipients of its annual awards – the Excellence in Practice Award, Distinguished Alumni Humanitarian Award and Rising Star Award. Awardees were honored at the All School Reunion in November.

The University of Minnesota School of Nursing was ranked No. 46 in Shanghai Ranking’s 2024 Global Ranking of Academic Subjects. It is the first time the school has been ranked in the top 50.

Dean Connie White Delaney, PhD, RN, FAAN, FACMI, FNAP, was named to the list of 100 Most Influential Health Care Leaders by Minnesota Physician. The honor recognizes 100 leaders who help make health care in Minnesota a global model of excellence.

Research Framework

The School of Nursing unveiled its new research framework that better reflects the nursing research being conducted at the school and reflects the health needs of the community.

The University of Minnesota School of Nursing and Mayo Clinic academic-practice partnership awarded a seed grant to School of Nursing Associate Professor Kristin Sandau, PhD, RN, FAHA, FAAN, and Mayo Clinic Nurse Scientist Samantha Conley, PhD, RN, for their study Care Partners and Patients Navigating Year 1 of Dyadic Self-Management post-LVAD.

VA

In 2009, the Minneapolis Veterans Affairs (VA) Health Care System served as a pilot site for a transition to practice program for newly licensed nurses. After evaluation of the program showed effectiveness in terms of satisfaction and retention, the program was rolled out to all VA sites nationally.

HEED Award 2024

The school was one of only 19 nursing schools to receive the HEED Award honoring U.S. health colleges and universities that demonstrate an outstanding commitment to diversity and inclusion.

Partnership award 2024

The American Association of Colleges of Nursing (AACN) awarded the University of Minnesota an Exemplary Academic-Practice Partnership Award for the Collaboratory of Collaboratories, which is a collaboration of 10 practice partners and the University of Minnesota School of Nursing.
