The Annex Teen Clinic, an academic-practice partner of the School of Nursing, helps young people take charge of their sexual health by providing confidential health services and education.

The clinic was named the recipient of a 2023 Office of Academic Clinical Affairs (OACA) Clinical Training Sites of Excellence Award. The award recognizes community and clinical training partners for exceptional support to University of Minnesota health sciences learners, who are the future health care workforce.

“As Molly Berg, the director of Clinical Services and Operations at the clinic, says, ‘We love students!’ That sentiment is embraced by the entire clinic staff. The inclusive and warm environment, paired with people who are committed to reproductive justice creates a rich learning experience for students," says Clinical Associate Professor Maria Ruud, DNP, APRN, WHNP.

Recipients of the Clinical Training Sites of Excellence Award are recognized for their excellence in the following areas:

  • Notable long-standing commitment
  • Stepping up to support students despite adverse conditions
  • Supporting diversity
  • Supporting our learners
  • Excelling in interprofessional education
