Faculty, students receive MNRS awards

The University of Minnesota School of Nursing is one of the co-hosts of the 2024 MNRS conference, which will be held in Minneapolis Feb. 28-March 2, 2024. This year’s conference, Leading the Way: The Critical Importance of Nursing Science and Implementation in a New Era, was held March 29-April 1 in Des Moines, Iowa.
Associate Professor Barb McMorris, PhD, received the Mid Career Award from the Adolescent Health Research and Implementation Interest Group (RIIG) at the 47th annual Midwest Nursing Research Society Research Conference.
Mia Sparrow, a Bachelor of Science in Nursing student, received second place for her poster Depressive Symptoms and Suicidal Ideation among Somali and Oromo Students in Minnesota: Associations with Perceived Discrimination and School Connectedness.
PhD student Sue Park received a dissertation research grant for Nurses’ visual navigation on EHR patient dashboards for clinical decision-making.
PhD candidate Charles Osingada’s abstract Patient Perceptions and Predictors of Intention to Use Telehealth for Follow-Up care: A Mixed Methods Study among Clients Living with HIV in Kampala, Uganda was named a Distinguished Abstract.
