The University of Minnesota School of Nursing celebrated the class of 2016 during the School of Nursing commencement ceremony May 13 at Northrop. The school welcomed U.S. Sen. Amy Klobuchar, who delivered the commencement address. Klobuchar is the senior United States senator from Minnesota and the first woman elected to represent Minnesota in the U.S. Senate. Before serving in the Senate, Klobuchar served as the Hennepin County attorney for eight years and was a legal adviser to former Vice President Walter Mondale.
The University of Minnesota School of Nursing announced that Professor Renee Sieving, PhD, RN, FAAN, FSAHM, was named the inaugural holder of the Pauline A. Vincent Chair in Public Health.

This growing need also comes with the demand for quality training to prepare providers. To that end, nearly 900 people, including nurses, physicians, chaplains and bereavement counselors, will gather to learn how to best provide end-of-life care.
