The University of Minnesota School of Nursing is hosting a statewide conference for nurse anesthetists and students to address the opioid epidemic. The conference, on June 9, will feature experts on topics including new evidence-based practice, non-opioid alternatives during surgery and prevention of substance use disorder among nurse anesthetists.

The School of Nursing announces three new Richard Olding Beard Award winners. The Richard Olding Beard Award recognizes individuals whose foresight, wisdom and courageous advocacy for the nursing profession have led to better health care for all.

PhD students Kara Koschmann, MSN, APRN, CPNP-PC, and Meghan Hultman, MSN, RN, were named Robert Wood Johnson Foundation’s Future of Nursing Scholars and will receive $125,000 each to use over the course of three years to complete their PhD degrees.
