Katie Huffling, executive director of the Alliance of Nurses for Healthy Environments, will be talking about the environment, health disparities and opportunities for action at a Nov. 29 event sponsored by the School of Nursing. 

Kuei-Min Chen, PhD ’00, MS ‘96, an established gerontological health expert working to advance the health and well-being of older adults in Taiwan and around the world, received the Distinguished Leadership Award for Internationals, awarded by the Global Programs and Strategy Alliance (GPS Alliance) and the University of Minnesota Alumni Association (UMAA).

Associate Professor Emerita Bonnie Westra, PhD, RN, FAAN, FACMI, has been named the 2018 recipient of the Virginia K. Saba Informatics Award from the American Medical Informatics Association (AMIA).

For the third consecutive year, the University of Minnesota School of Nursing has been recognized with the Health Professions Higher Education Excellence in Diversity (HEED) Award from INSIGHT Into Diversity Magazine. The HEED Award honors U.S. nursing, medical, dental, pharmacy, osteopathic, veterinary, and other health schools and centers that demonstrate an outstanding commitment to diversity and inclusion.

Professor Ruth Lindquist, PhD, RN, FAHA, FAAN, was inducted into the Academies for Excellence in the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning. Each year the Academic Health Center at the University of Minnesota identifies the most distinguished scientists, educators and clinicians within its ranks to be inducted into the Academies for Excellence.
